Atkinson Stilgoe encourages homeowners to consider a Green Mortgage to help combat rising household bills
Amidst the rising cost of living, local estate agency Atkinson Stilgoe is helping homeowners to explore how they could make savings on their monthly household bills. By assessing their property’s energy efficiency, homeowners and landlords could find that they are eligible for a ‘Green Mortgage’, and the local Connells team is inviting anyone wishing to understand their options to contact them for more information.
A ‘Green Mortgage’ is a relatively new mortgage product which offers lower interest rates and other incentives to owners of more energy efficient homes. Properties must meet a minimum energy efficiency or EPC rating to qualify, meaning that homeowners could not only achieve savings on their mortgage payments, but also benefit from lower bills as a result of having energy efficient measures in place.
“As our business is entrenched in the local community, we are seeing the effects of the rising cost of living first hand and want to do all in our power to help our customers to make savings wherever they can,” says David Plumtree, Group Estate Agency Chief Executive of Atkinson Stilgoe’s parent company Connells Group. “Whether your home is already energy efficient or not, a green mortgage is worth looking into as the long term savings could make a huge difference, particularly given the current rising interest rates.
“For anyone who is unaware of their property’s energy efficiency or whose home doesn’t yet meet the minimum criteria, we would recommend the new EPC Plus service which we have just launched in branch,” David continues. “This provides homeowners with a report on their property’s current impact on the environment, how they can improve its energy efficiency, how much these changes should cost and what savings they could make as a result. In these times, people want to get the most out of their money, so we’re encouraging anyone wanting to learn more about how they can reduce their bills and limit their homes’ impact on the environment to contact us.”
To find out if you’d be eligible for a green mortgage or to book an appointment to discuss your mortgage needs, contact the local Atkinson Stilgoe branch.
